Welcome to Sylan – the mountain massif in borderland
Surrounded by myths and spellbinding, the majestic alpine Sylan massif has lured mountain tourists since the 19th century and continues to do so to this day. Regardless of whether your goal is relaxation and pleasant company or adrenaline-pumping skiing and alpine climbing, the spectacular Sylan Mountains await you and offer genuine wilderness, well removed from everyday life.
Did you know that in the Southern Sami language Sylane is “Bieljehkh”, meaning “those who are provided with ears"? This is an appropriate name for the two pointed peaks Storsylen (1762 m) and Storsola (1728 m), which jut up steeply in the otherwise gentle mountains in Trøndelag County.
