Transportation to Skarvan and Roltdalen National Park
This section provides information about getting to and from Skarvan and Roltdalen National Park.
The easiest way to get to Skarvan and Roltdalen National Park is by car. The roads leading to the national park’s gateways are in good condition and there is ample car parking. RV 705 runs from Stjørdal to Røros and is a good alternative to the E6 highway. It is necessary to pay a road toll on some of the roads, which vary from NOK 30-50.
Græslihytta in Tydal is the cabin that is the easiest to access by public transport. You can catch the bus to Græsli in Tydal. From there, it is a walk of just over 1 km until you reach the start of the hiking trail to the cabins Græslihytta and Schulzhytta. The hike from here to the cabin takes just 30-45 minutes.
Trondheim, Stjørdal and Hell all have bus connections with Tydal and Selbu. From Ås in Tydal, it is about 16 km to the car park for the Ramsjøhytta. This road is in good condition and the road toll is NOK 50. It is 12 km from Ås to Græslihytta and this section of road has no road toll.
From the centre of Selbu, it is 16 km to Vekta, 14 km to Bleka and 25 km to the Flora / Kubjørga. The roads are in good condition and the road toll is NOK 30-50.
Trondheim Airport Værnes is located in Stjørdal Municipality, which makes it easy to access the region from within Norway or from overseas. There are also bus and train connections to and from Stjørdal. From the railway station, it is approximately 30 km to the car park for the Kvitfjellhytta and to the start of the trail to Schulzhytta. The road is in good condition and the road toll is NOK 50.
You can reach Meråker by car, bus or train. From the railway station, it is 21 km to Bjørneggen and 10 km to Mannseterbakken. Both roads are open year-round and are toll free.
It is possible to take a taxi to the various gateways, but this can be quite expensive.
